About the Author
Ben Shaw is a Kenilworth-based author and family historian. What began as an attempt to solve the mystery of a 1595 Geneva "Breeches Bible" handed down through his family led to the discovery that one of his direct ancestors was Bryan Blundell: master mariner, twice Mayor of Liverpool, co-founder of the Blue Coat School, and slave trader. Years of historical and genealogical research culminated in his first book, The Slave Trader: The Story of Bryan Blundell, published by Pen & Sword History on 30 August 2026.
